Community school
The school is intended for children from the age of three to the age of fourteen. The activity is conducted in three age groups.
During this period, the activities of the school take place through virtual meetings held once a week.
The activity takes place on weekends and the schedule is adapted to the holidays in Germany and Israeli holidays.
As soon as it is possible to return to the gathering activity, an exact location will be provided to the members of the community.
More information about the community meetings can be seen in the events and meetings schedule .
The school's activity program is structured to respond to increasing the children's affinity for the Hebrew language and Israeli culture, including an emphasis on holidays and the cultural treasure that sets us apart. We recognize the complexity of the identity of Israeli children living in Germany and carry out activities out of sensitivity to this issue. The purpose of the activity is to expose the children to the same issues we grew up with in Israel and to increase their attachment to their Israeli roots.
Hebrew is home, belonging, identity and culture. Reading and writing the language are the cornerstones on which you can build an affinity for Israeli culture and preserve the language. Through experiential learning - songs, stories and holding discussions in Hebrew on topics of interest to the children, we can ensure that our children use the language while creating friendships with children similar to them. We will all benefit from this activity.
In addition to the group meetings, the community also offers Hebrew lessons in small groups according to age and Hebrew level.
In these classes the emphasis is on knowing the letters and punctuation marks. On reading texts and books by Israeli writers and exposing the children to the cultural and historical elements of the Hebrew language.
principles and guidelines
The activity at the education center takes place in light of these principles:
Experiential and fun learning with the aim of increasing the child's use of the Hebrew language, including learning to read and write.
Consideration of the complex identity mosaic of our children, some of whom also live in a mixed home and where Hebrew is sometimes a second language.
Adapting the activity to the different levels of the child, both according to the knowledge of the Hebrew language and according to the children's ages.
Exposing the children to the cultural treasures with which we grew up in Israel, through poetry, literature, celebrating holidays and observing cultural customs.
Deepening the children's attachment to the homeland and the Israeli and Jewish culture and its customs.
